I was pondering the price per gallon of gas situation today, when I thought….well, there’s a lot of necessary and some unnecessary things out there, that cost A LOT more than gas…Here’s my assessment:
Milk: $4.00/gallon
Corn: $6.00/bushel
Orange Juice: $5.00/gallon
Peanuts: $11.00/pound
Cotton: $61.75/pound
Rice: $28.00/cwt
Starbucks Coffee: $4.00/cup
McDonald’s Value Meal: $6.00/meal
Cigarettes: $6.00/pack
*all prices are based on a national average, and may not be exactly the same where you live*
Next time you choose to complain about gas, stop and think twice about what costs more. Then gas prices don’t seem so bad after all….maybe!

Over the past several days, I’ve made some observations. It’s all over the media, word on the street, in your local hangouts, what do you hear? “Oil is too high, we can’t afford to eat because we’re paying so much for gas”….sound familiar?
I’ve been trying to cut back on my gas consumption. While waiting in line at the bank or a drive-thru, I simply turn off my car so I’m not needlessly wasting gas. Generally I would keep my car running. So funny how something simple can save you money.
Unfortunately, some people I have encountered throughout the past couple of weeks, have a different idea. While having a yard sale at my home I counted at least 5 people who came to browse, and believe it or not, left their cars running with air going full blast. And these weren’t 5 minute stops might I add. Each one stayed for 15 minutes or longer, trying to make a bargain. And to top it off today I go to the local Lowes. The minute I stepped out of my car I heard the car next to me running, and there was no one in it…no one, but something…they had left their dog in the car while they went shopping. I assume to keep the doggie nice and comfy, they decided to leave the car running. Okay, not only were they wasting gas, they were totally a car thieves dream.
What is wrong with people. They sit around and complain about President Bush, and how it’s all his fault gas is so high. BLAH, BLAH, BLAH….Quit running your cars and quit running your mouths! All this chin music is driving me crazy!!!! Did you know the Cubans are drilling for oil 70 miles off the coast of Florida….Florida, that’s right. Since when are the Cubans smarter than we are? Oh that’s right, the Democrats have house majority and have been fighting against drilling in the Gulf of Mexico because it might endanger some fish. Oh and by the way, we can’t drill in ANWR, because we need to preserve nature. And those same people turn around and complain about this war and how we need to be energy independent. HMMMMM….now does that make sense?

- ~The first fold of our flag is a symbol of life.
- ~The second fold is a symbol of our belief in the eternal life.
- ~The third fold is made in honor and remembrance of the veteran departing our ranks who gave a portion of life for the defense of our country to attain a peace throughout the world.
- ~The fourth fold represents our weaker nature, for as American citizens trusting in God, it is to Him we turn in times of peace as well as in times of war for His divine guidance.
- ~The fifth fold is a tribute to our country, for in the words of Stephen Decatur, “Our country, in dealing with other countries, may she always be right; but it is still our country, right or wrong.”
- ~The sixth fold is for where our hearts lie. It is with our heart that we pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the republic for which it stands, one nation, under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.
- ~The seventh fold is a tribute to our Armed Forces, for it is through the Armed Forces that we protect our country and our flag against all her enemies, whether they be found within or without the boundaries of our republic.
- ~The eighth fold is a tribute to the one who entered in to the valley of the shadow of death, that we might see the light of day, and to honor mother, for whom it flies on mother’s day.
- ~The ninth fold is a tribute to womanhood; for it has been through their faith, love, loyalty and devotion that the character of the men and women who have made this country great have been molded.
- ~The tenth fold is a tribute to father, for he, too, has given his sons and daughters for the defense of our country since they were first born.
- ~The eleventh fold, in the eyes of a Hebrew citizen, represents the lower portion of the seal of King David and King Solomon, and glorifies, in their eyes, the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.
- ~The twelfth fold, in the eyes of a Christian citizen, represents an emblem of eternity and glorifies God the Father, the Son, and Holy Ghost.
- When the flag is completely folded, the stars are uppermost, reminding us of our national motto, “In God we Trust.”

Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends.
